Abbie launched fundRISING in September 2017 but not until motivated by the inspiration and expertise of her current partners, Brett and Quizaira, did the organization evolve to its current – and awesomely improved - iteration. Abbie oversees day-to-day operations at fundRISING including managing finances and projects, and assisting with business development and partner outreach.
Over her 12 years as a nonprofit professional, Abbie has worked for organizations with operating revenues of $1 to $20M, honing subject expertise in policy & advocacy, human rights & civil liberties, and workforce development. She has overseen corporate, government and foundation giving, and launched and managed major donor programs, securing multiple five- and six-figure gifts from all four verticals. Most recently she wrote a workforce development proposal securing $1M (CAN) to expand an organization into a new market, and has increased operating revenue at each of her former organizations, often facilitating 10-15% growth over each year.
Abbie firmly believes cross-sector collaboration is the best way to make long-term and far-reaching impact, and works closely with executive and program staff, the board of directors, and other stakeholders in pursuit of a shared culture of philanthropy. She partners extensively with the private sector, governments, and individuals to achieve shared goals; is seasoned at grant-writing and budget preparation; and has spent the last eight years administering and maintaining donor data using Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP).
Abbie is a recipient of Georgetown University’s Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate, and has earned her Master of Public Administration from George Mason University, Master of Philosophy from American University, and Bachelor of Philosophy from Mount Saint Mary’s University. She is a lifelong resident of the Washington, DC area, and currently lives with her husband and two young children in Silver Spring, MD.
